William Harper Irwin's wife, Livonia Crone's great-grandparents, Amos Doty and Sarah Black (Livonia Crone to Henry H Crone and Eliza Jane Willougby to John Willoughby and Harriet Doty to  Amos Doty and Sarah Black) may have attended the Westminister Presbyterian Chruch in Mifflintown, PA between 1806 to 1823. Hopefully, in these records, we will find the baptism records of Amos Doty and Sarah Black children, and maybe Harriet Doty and John Willoughby's marriage records.  That would be awesome.

Interesting note:  Amos Doty's older brother, Dr. Ezra Doty is buried at the Westminister Presbyterian Cemetery in Mifflintown, PA.  In the book, "A History of the Juniata Valley and its  People, Vol 1" by John W. Jordan, LLD page 176 states that Dr. Ezra Doty came from Sharon, Litchfield County, CT soon after it was established (the town was established) and a few years later his brother, Amos Doty came and established the 2nd tanner in Mifflintown in 1809.

In 1823, Sarah Black Doty and her family left Milford Twp, Mifflin Co, PA and settled in Pleasant Twp, Fairfield Co, OH.  So far, I have not been able to locate Amos Doty in Fairfield Co, OH or anywhere. Amos Doty's trail is cold after the tax records of 1823 for Milford Twp, Mifflin Co, PA  but I have been able to follow Sarah Black Doty and the children in Fairfield Co, OH.  In 1830, Sarah Doty is living in Pleasant Twp, Fairfield Co, OH with two of her children, Elisa Doty and William Doty.  Harriet Doty is married and living with her husband, John Willougby in 1830 in Pleasant Twp, Fairfield Co, OH.  In 1840, Sarah Doty is living with her eldest son, Samuel Doty and his family in Logan Twp, Hocking Co, OH.  In 1840, Harriet Doty is living with her husband, John Willougby in Deerfield Twp, Warren Co, OH.  In 1850, Sarah Doty is still living with her eldest son, Samuel Doty and his family but now in Lancaster Twp, Fairfield Co, OH.  Between 1850-1860 Harriet Doty is living with her husband, John Willoughby in Deerfield Twp, Warren Co, OH. 1870, Harriet Doty and her husband John Willoughby are living with their daughter, Eliza Jane Willoughby and her husband Henry H. Crone in Deerfield Twp, Warren Co, OH.

Mifflintown, Westminster/Mifflintown Presbyterian Church

According to our records, the Mifflintown and Lost Creek congregations in the Presbytery of Huntingdon were originally one church known as the Cedar Spring (sometimes Springs) Presbyterian Church in Mifflintown, Pennsylvania.  This church dates back to 1759. In 1800, the congregation expanded into two buildings about eight miles apart to house its growing congregation. The Lost Creek Presbyterian Church was organized in the town of McAlisterville, PA, while the Mifflintown Presbyterian Church remained in Mifflintown. The congregation was run as one church, sharing a minister and was listed in the General Assembly Minutes of the Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A. as the Mifflintown and Lost Creek Presbyterian Church.  In 1875, the congregations split. While the Lost Creek Church still goes by that name, the Mifflintown Presbyterian Church changed names to Westminster Presbyterian Church.

A search of our catalogs shows the following records which contain genealogical information from Westminster Presbyterian Church deposited in our holdings:
