Agreement of the heirs of Nicholas Dawson of Deerfield Township, Warren County, Ohio who died 21 April 1867. Nicholas Dawson before his death had a farm of 170 acres in Deerfield Township, Warren County, Ohio and another farm of 200 acres in Clermont County, Ohio. Nicholas Dawson wife is Mary Dawson and his sons were Amos Dawson, Henry Dawson, Joshua Dawson, and Ezra Dawson deceased, and daughters Mary Dawson Irwin, Elizabeth Dawson McSears deceased, Matilda Dawson, and Catharine Dawson McKinney deceased. Elizabeth, Ezra and Catherine died before their father, Nicholas Dawson. Interesting note: Ezra Dawson and Catherine Dawson McKinney’s children must have died before Nicholas Dawson’s will since they are not listed as heirs in this estate dispute. Ezra Dawson’s children were Pingree Dawson,Rebech Dawson, Surbetius Dawson and Nicholas Dawson. Catherine Dawson McKinney’s children were James McKinney and John McKinney. Mary Irwin the wife of James Irwin is heir to Nicholas Dawson’s will and she and others are asking the courts to redistribute Nicholas Dawson’s estate on 24 June 1867. Note: James Irwin is the son of Robert Irwin and Lydia Cox Irwin and Mary Dawson Irwin the their daughter in-law.

Joseph Bolander of Warren County, Ohio conveys land to William Irwin, son of James Irwin and Agnes Irwin that is located in Warren County, Ohio in Section 4, Township 3, Range 2 on 29 April 1848. This land that was once James Irwin property that the left to his son, Robert Irwin and his grandchildren including Britton Irwin. John Lowes is James Irwin’s son in-law by his daughter, Mary Irwin. The property is bond by A.C. Bates land, and two tracts of land–one tract of land was deeded to John Bolander by John Lowes guardian of Britton Irwin The other tract of land of A.C. Bates was deeded to John Bolander and then John Bolander deeded the land to Joseph Bolander.

Civil Action to Rescina Contract (release parties from further obligations to each other) on 21 September 1869 in Warren County, Ohio by petitioner Amos Dawson, Matilda Dawson, Joshua Dawson, Henry Dawson and Mary Dawson vs defendants Mary Irwin and James Irwin her husband, Susannah Elliott and John Elliott her husband, John H. McKinney and James McKinney, Mary A. Kaneer and Isaac Kaneer her husband, John W. Vanleer and Henry Vanleer, Rebecca Dawson, Senetus Dawson, Nicholas Dawson and Pingree Dawson. On 10 November 1870 the case was dismissed without prejudice and without record at continue of plaintiffs.

Mary Irwin death record. Mary Irwin was daughter of John Irwin and Mary Hunter. Mary was born on 10 March 1850 and died 10 March 1873, age 23 years old. Mary was single and she was born and died in Franklin Township, Warren County, Ohio. Mary died on consumption.

  • Robert Irwin served with James in  Revolutionary War (Milford Twp., Cumberland Co)
  • Robert Irwin’s parents are John and Mary Irwin
  • Robert Irwin history states that he was from Mifflin County, PA
Time Line:
1750 Lack Township, Cumberland County, PA
1758 – James Irwin in born to William and Nancy Irwin in Lack Twp., Cumberland County, PA. 
1763 – Robert Irwin in born to John and Mary Irwin in Lack Twp., Cumberland County, PA.
1768- Lack Twp. splits into Lack and Milford Twps. – James and Robert are now in Milford Twp., Cumberland County, PA.
1777- James Irwin in Milford Twp., Cumberland County, PA served 2 months in the Autumn, on the frontier fighting the British, as a private in Captain William Graham’s Pennsylvania Company and General Potter’s Brigade.  
1778 – James Irwin in Milford Twp., Cumberland County, PA served 2 months in “Standing Stone Valley”  fighting the Indians, as a private in Captain David Boal’s Pennsylvania Company.
1780 – James Irwin in Milford Twp., Cumberland County, PA served 2 months in August, at Kishacoquillas Valley fighting the Indians, as a private in Captain David Boal’s Pennsylvania Company.
1789 – Milford and Lack Twp. become part of Mifflin County, PA
1831 – Milford and Lack Twp. become part of Juniata County, PA
1843 – Milford Twp. splits into Milford and Beale Twps. in Juniata County, PA.
