Mill Creek Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church was formed in 1798 in Mason, Ohio. Then in 1805, the church changed it name and location to Sycamore United Presbyterian Church in Foster’s, Ohio (between Mason, Warren County, Ohio and 16 Mile Stand, Symmes Township, Hamilton County, Ohio). James Harper’s and James Irwin’s family may have attended this church.

This morning I called Presbyterian Historical Society located 425 Lombard St., Philadelphia, PA 19147, Phone: (215) 627-1852 to located the archive church records for Sycamore United Presbyterian Church in Symmes Township, Hamilton County, Ohio.  The reference lady gave this information to me:
Mill Creek Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church was formed in 1798 in Mason, Ohio.  Then in 1805, the church changed it name and location to Sycamore United Presbyterian Church in Foster’s, Ohio (between Mason, Ohio and 16 Mile Stand, Symmes Township, Hamilton County, Ohio). 

It is my though that maybe James Harper’s and James Irwin’s family may have attended this church and this is where William Cox Irwin met Sarah Harper and later married in 1850, after the death of his first wife, Eliza Jane Baxter Irwin.  We have always wondered how they might have met and church is a good meeting place to seek a wonderful companion.

When the reference lady and I researched the Presbyterian Historical Society’s achieve we found the record of Mill Creek Associate Presbyterian Church in Mason, Ohio which was formed in 1798 and information stating the change in name and location of the church to Sycamore United Presbyterian Church in Foster’s, Ohio in 1805.  I then researched Fosters, Ohio and realized that it was between Mason,Ohio and Six Mile Stand in Symmes Township, Hamilton County, Ohio. 

The reference lady also suggested researching records at Ohio Historical Society at www.ohiohistory.org and Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints website at www.familysearch.org and Sycamore Presbyterian Church at www.sycamorechurch.org for genealogy.

I spoke to J Stevens this morning from the Sycamore United Presbyterian Church, 11800 Mason Road, Cincinnati, Ohio (the church now has a new name called Sycamore Presbyterian Church).  She confirmed that their church was organized in 1805 and what the reference lady had stated - so we are confident that is the correct church.  She stated that she would try to find someone to research their achieve records for James Harper’s family. William Cox Irwin’s Rose Hill Cemetery Lots from 2009-2012 in Mason, Warren County, Ohio.

 

May 15, 1995 – These are the lots that I procured for my family as heir of William Cox Irwin cemetery lots.  My name at that time was Kathy (Irwin) Henderson.

May 30, 1996 – My cemetery lots that I had procured for my family previous on May 15, 1995 were taken away by my father, Lee Anton Irwin.  I procured lots again for my family but this time with my father, Lee Anton Irwin and my aunt, Ann (Irwin) Hughes permission since they demanded they were the oldest living direct descent of William Cox Irwin and controlled these lots.

21 August 2009 – My youngest child and daughter, Whitney Gjertine Henderson’s burial service at Rose Hill Cemetery my father, Lee Anton Irwin and uncle, Larry Harry Irwin demand that all of my lots that I had procured on May 30, 1996 be taken away and reassigned to my sibling below.  Note: You will notice that my father procures a place for me next to my daughter, Whitney but makes certain that no space is available for my husband, Jimmie Loyd Edgington.  

2012 – Request from my aunt, Ann (Irwin) Hughes now demanding she is the oldest living direct descent of William Cox Irwin that all my lots be restored to me.  She conferred with all my siblings and denied request.

November 2012 – Requested from my aunt, Ann (Irwin) Hughes that only my husband, Jim be buried next to me and allow my brother, Lee Jr. to be buried behind us.  She denied based on prior family’s request.

Ansel Irwin’s Obituary date 9 December 1954 stated he died at his home in Mason, Warren County, Ohio following an illness of one year. Ansel’s widow, Lucille (Moore) Irwin; Ansel’s children, Eleanor (Irwin) Moler, Pearl (Irwin) Bryant, Glenn Irwin and Clifford Irwin. Surviving brother, Will Irwin of Mason, Ohio. Buried at Rose Hill Cemetery.

James Baxter’s Will listed in Warren County, Ohio, Will & Estate Records, Box 301-350, 1883-1888 - list his death as 6 December 1885. His son, William R. Baxter is Executor of Estate. Resident of Deerfield Township, Warren County, Ohio.
