Anna Clara (Hitch) Irwin’s birth certificate–born 26 December 1882 in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio and resident of Clermont County, Ohio–child of John Wesley Hitch and Julia Prather
My great-grandmother, Anna Clara (Hitch) Irwin was born in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio on Tuesday, 26 December 1882. Her parents, John Wesley Hitch and Julia Prather residence was in Tate Township, Clermont County, Ohio. She must have been born while visiting family in Cincinnati during the Christmas season. I wonder who they were visiting during this time. Anna’s birth record was not recorded until June 1883 when the weather was better.

Benjamin Hitch, born 1755 in Somerset County, Maryland and died April 19, 1814 in Worchester County, Maryland is our Revolutionary War Veteran who served under Captain Josiah Dashiell in the Somerset County, Maryland Militia, Salisbury Battalion. Benjamin Hitch also furnished supplies during the Revolutionary War.

John George and Sarah Perry New Jersey, Marriage Records, 1683-1802 - Volume XXII, Marriage Records 1665-1800 page 295
John George is our Revolutionary War Veteran on Great-Grandma, Anna Clara (Hitch) Irwin side of the family. John George and Sarah Perry were married December 31, 1772 in Burlington County, New Jersey.
Interesting Note: You will notice that John George was married to Sarah Durell on March 2, 1765 – seven years before his marriage to Sarah Perry. I wonder if this is the same John George or if Sarah Durell died sometime before 1772.
I have included the first portion of the book because the customs and laws regarding marriage where very interesting. You will find John George marriage on the last page of this blog posting.
