I note the change in spelling from Irwin to Erwin around 1840. This is interesting to me because two brothers Erwin with Ohio roots have recently contacted me to bring to my notice that we share identical y-DNA .
ReplyDeleteOur DNA result confirm a descendancy from the Irving, builder of Bonshaw Tower in Dumfiesshire Scotland (about (1550).
If we can confirm a connection to this family of Robert Irwin/Ervin it would be of great assistance in filling a large gap in my family history.
I have already discovered a later, 19th century, migration of my Irwin family to Illinois.
