My dad, Lee Anton Irwin in the 1940 US Federal Census with his dad, Lee Hitch Irwin, mom, Matilda Edith (Meiners) Irwin, and sister, Anna May Irwin living in Norwood Township, Norwood City Ward 6, Hamilton County, Ohio on 2335 Harper Street, Norwood, Ohio.

You will notice that their last name is misspelled on the 1940 Census as Ervin not Irwin.

Lee Hitch Irwin family was the 221st Household visited on 1 April 1940.  They rented a home on 2335 Harper Street in Norwood, Ohio for $23. a month.  Stanley Spurgeon’s family also rented portion of this home and their rent was $18. month.  Stanley Spurgeon’s family consisted of himself age 32, wife, Elgie age 27 and Stanley age 7. I would guess that Stanley and my dad, Lee Anton age 5 must have played together. 

Lee Hitch Irwin, head, male, white, age 34, married, attended 4 years of high school, birthplace Ohio, lived in Norwood, Hamilton County, Ohio in 1935, hours worked during the week 48, occupation tool clerk, industry electric tool company, weeks worked during the year 52, annual income $1,500.

Matilda Edith (Meiners) Irwin, wife, female, white, age 25, married, attended school to the 8th grade, birthplace Minnesota (not Ohio), lived in Norwood, Hamilton County, Ohio in 1935 and worked at home.

Lee Anton Irwin, son, male, white, age 5, single, 1st grade at school, birthplace Ohio, lived in Norwood, Hamilton County, Ohio in 1935.
