When searching William Irwin (James Irwin father) in Milford Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania I realized that William must have died or left the area after 1779. He is not on the Pennsylvania Tax and Exoneration List for Milford Township after 1779. Also, I noticed that John Irwin is also gone after 1779 from Milford Township.
I did see James Irwin listed in 1781 and 1782 as Freeman for Milford Township, which would put him at the age of 23 or 24 years old.
We know that in Autumn 1781 he served two months fighting Indians under Captain David Boles.

1789 Milford Township in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania becomes part of Mifflin County, Pennsylvania. This is where we leave Cumberland County, Pennsylvania and start our research in Milford Township, Mifflin County, Pennsylvania for our Irwin ancestors. They will be in Mifflin County until it becomes apart of Juniata County, Pennsylvania in 1831. Then in 1843 Milford Township splits into Milford and Beale Townships in Juniata County, Pennsylvania. Our Irwin ancestors could either be in Milford or Beale Township, Juniata County, Pennsylvania and this is where their records would be kept.
