John Irwin, Abram Irwin and Christopher Irwin signed Petition of Defense on August 7, 1755 for Cumberland County to Robert Hunter Morris, Esq. Governor and Commander in Chief over Providence of Pennsylvania

It appears that Governor Morris had provided Petter’s Township in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania with provisions (guns and ammunition) to defend themselves against the Indians earlier according to the petition below.

Also the petition mentions that they are under the command of Joseph Armstrong, Esq in August 1755.  This is 2 months before James Irwin is born in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.  His father may have been either John, Abram or Christopher Irwin.  It still remains mystery at this time except for the Sons of American Revolution Application of Robert Owens, greatgrandson of James Irwin.
