William Irwin elected as Censor for the 7th Battalion in Milford Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania on May 14, 1783 in an election at the dwelling house of Thomas Wilson

May 14, 1783 in an election at the dwelling house of Thomas Wilson in Milford Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania instructed that the following gentlemen were elected for the after mentioned Officers by Electors of the 7th Battalion.  You will notice that William Irwin was elected Censor of the 7th Battalion.  A censor is an official (as in time of war) who reads communications (as letters) and deletes material considered sensitive or harmful.
