John Irvine (Erwine) age 23, occupation laborer, enlisted July 11, 1746 in Captain John Deimer Company under King’s orders to raise 400 men with Providence of Pennsylvania for expedition against Canada on April 9, 1746.

 

John Irvine (Erwine) age 23 enlisted July 11, 1746, occupation is laborer.  John enlisted in Captain John Deimer Company under authority of a proclamation issued by Governor George Thomas, dated June 9, 1746, reciting King’s orders  of the April 9, 1746 to raise four hundred men within the Providence of Pennsylvania to join regular forces in immediate reduction of Canada.  Captain Deimer Company went into winter quarters at Albany, New York in 1746 –1747, and finally discharged October 31, 1747, with intended by his Majesty expedition against Canada laid aside for the present.
