Welcome to Digital Downloads - A Library Collaboration
The Digital Downloads - A Library Collaboration (DDALC) is the result of a grant from the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), awarded by the State Library of Ohio in 2004 to the Grandview Heights Public Library. The original members of the grant were Grandview and Upper Arlington Public Libraries. This grant eventually enabled nine libraries in the mid-Ohio region to band together in a project focused on cooperatively bringing online audio and print books to the public. The need to create a new identity beyond traditional service boundaries led to the creation of the Initiative.
In 2009 the project was renamed to reflect the expansion of participating libraries beyond the mid-Ohio region. The title "Digital Downloads - A Library Collaboration" (DDALC) replaced the original project title of "Mid-Ohio Digital Library Initiative" (MOLDI).
With the creation of this group, we also recognized that there were many other digital projects that libraries were presenting to the public, but there was not much knowledge regarding their existence. Therefore, our second aim became to present interesting and useful digital projects by Ohio libraries, both of our members and those we have seen elsewhere and liked.
Our presentation of projects is not intended to be a complete list of what is available to the public, but one which focuses on our regional identity and what our librarians feel to be the most useful to the public.
DDALC does not own the sites and all rights must be pursued off each individual site you use. We do not, in any way, control the content or copyright of the listed sites.
