On 28 March 1868, Britton Moore Irwin purchases land from Amelia Bates. The 50 acre lot is located in Deerfield Township, Warren County, Ohio in the North East corner of Section 4, Township 3, Range 2. The 50 acres lot is now owned by Richard Cox. This land was conveyed formerly by Benjamin Stephenson and deeded by him to Amelia Bates on 1 December 1863. Gladdish Thomas filed petition in Common Pleas Court, Warren County, Ohio stating that he was the highest bidder for this land and purchased it from Amelia Bates. Amelia Bates states that she never sold the land to Gladdish Thomas but to Britton Moore Irwin. Britton Moore Irwin states that he purchased the land and has no knowledge of any prior arrangements with Gladdish Thomas and asks the court to quiet the claim and be free from molestation or disturbance by Gladdish Thomas.
